PGA Tour Brunch – Round 2 at the AT&T Byron Nelson Classic Notes

An ultra-hot Sam Burns carded a career-low (62), two weeks after equaling his best round on Tour with a second-round (63) en route to winning the Valspar Championship. Burns begins the third round at AT&T Byron Nelson Classic bogey-free through 36 holes, and holds his PGA Tour-leading fifth 36-hole lead/co-lead of the season.

The tournament’s 6-under cutline represents the lowest cut in AT&T Byron Nelson history (Previous was (-4) in 2018 and it fell one shy of the PGA Tour’s lowest cut since 1970.

First-round co-leaders J.J. Spaun and Jordan Spieth (63 in opening round) fell to fifth and T-6, respectively, after shooting (69) and (70) on Friday.

Masters Tournament champion Hideki Matsuyama and local Texas favorite Will Zalatoris made the cut right on the number (-6) while notables such as Rickie Fowler, Jason Day, Sergio Garcia, and Brooks Koepka all MTC.

Weather: Today’s forecast calls for partly sunny skies but a 20% chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms, expected no earlier than 4:00pm (local). Temperatures hovering in the low 60’s and winds 5-10 mph with gusts up to 22 mph.

PGATourBrunch will be posting before 8:00am (EDT) on Sunday.
