More than 85,000 tickets have been sold for the game between the Cincinnati Reds and Atlanta Braves at Bristol Motor Speedway, the first MLB game ever played in Tennessee.

The current record for paid attendance is 84,587 set on Sept. 12, 1954, for a doubleheader at Cleveland Stadium between the then-Cleveland Indians and New York Yankees.

Fans from all 50 states plus Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and nine countries across four continents have purchased tickets for the game.

Hall of Famers representing both teams will throw out the ceremonial first pitches, Chipper Jones for the Braves and Johnny Bench for the Reds.

The Speedway Classic will be televised nationally by FOX Sports with the first pitch scheduled for 7:15 p.m. ET.

Harper and The Commish

July 28, 2025 by Digital Sports Desk

PHILADELPHIA – (Staff and Wire Service Report) – Right smack in the middle of the City of Brotherly Love, Philadelphia Phillies slugger Bryce Harper dropped an f-bomb on Major League Baseball commissioner Rob Manfred in a heated confrontation last week about a potential salary cap, ESPN reported.

Embed from Getty Images

An irate Harper reportedly got in Manfred’s face and told him to “get the f– out of our clubhouse” if he wanted to discuss such a sensitive economic issue.

Manfred replied that he was “not going to get the f– out of here,” insisting it was important to talk about threats to the league’s business and ways to grow the game, sources told ESPN.

Other players tried to defuse the situation and Harper and Manfred eventually shook hands after the meeting, but Harper would not answer calls from Manfred the next day, per the report.

“It was pretty intense, definitely passionate,” Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos told ESPN. “Both of ’em. The commissioner giving it back to Bryce and Bryce giving it back to the commissioner. That’s Harp. He’s been doing this since he was 15 years old. It’s just another day. I wasn’t surprised.”

Harper, 32, is one of the game’s most influential players as a two-time National League Most Valuable Player and an eight-time All-Star.

Kitayama Takes 3M Open

July 27, 2025 by PGA Tour Brunch

BLAINE (Minn) – Kurt Kitayama wasn’t sure he would qualify for the final two rounds of the 3M Open. It turned out to be a weekend to remember.

Kitayama shot 6-under-par 65 and held on to win the 3M Open by one stroke Sunday in Blaine, Minn., for his second PGA Tour victory.

“I feel like the game has been trending, and for it finally to kind of pay off now has been awesome,” Kitayama said.

Kitayama finished at 23-under 261 at  TPC Twin Cities for a one-stroke decision on Sam Stevens, who posted 66 on Sunday. Kitayama made a total of 20 birdies in the two weekend rounds.

Prior to that, he wasn’t certain he would make the cut in this tournament.

“On Friday, I was fighting my swing trying to find something,” Kitayama said. “Went to the range, trying to find something.”

He definitely discovered what was needed.

Kitayama, who tied a course and tournament record with a third-round 60 on Saturday, pretty much rode that wave of momentum. He had birdies on the first three holes Sunday — including a chip-in from the green side rough on No. 3 — and was 5 under through six holes on the way to a 29 on the front nine.

But after a bogey on No. 11, his lead was just two on England’s Matt Wallace, who had already completed his round. Kitayama rebounded with birdies on two of the next three holes.

Yet it took him three putts to finish the par-3 17th, with the bogey cutting the margin to one stroke. But Stevens, who had birdies on Nos. 14-16 to pull within striking distance, was all over the place on the 18th with his first three shots into the rough and scrambled for par.

Kitayama, in the next group, had a smooth final hole and won it with par.

The tournament title locked up a position for Kitayama in the FedEx Cup playoffs with one regular-season tournament remaining.

“Jumping up that much is great,” he said. “The goal is to make the playoffs and give yourself a chance.”

There was another special aspect of the result for Kitayama because his older brother, Daniel, was his caddie for the second week in a row.

Stevens settled for his third top-10 finish of the season.

David Lipsky and Wallace both registered 64s to share the distinction for the best score of the round, and they finished tied for third place at 20 under, along with Pierceson Coody (67) and Jake Knapp (68).

Wallace produced a bogey-free round, but finished with pars on his final three holes.

Chris Gotterup, who was aiming for his second title in three weeks, didn’t make a charge en route to a 69, tying for 10th place at 18 under.

Third-round co-leaders Thorbjorn Olesen (73) of Denmark and Akshay Bhatia (75) tumbled down the leaderboard and finished tied for 14th (16 under) and tied for 25th (14 under), respectively. Bhatia had seven bogeys Sunday.

Kevin Roy also registered 64 on Sunday, ending at 13 under.

House of Horrors (File Photo)

By TERRY LYONS, Editor of Digital Sports Desk

BOSTON – There’s a load of confusion and a ton of mixed messages being strown about the streets of Washington DC in regard to the future of college athletics, name, image and likeness (NIL) parameters, outside (Private Equity) investments into the Athletics Departments of colleges and universities throughout the land.

The House v. NCAA settlement, which took effect on July 1, 2025, allows for direct payments to college athletes by their schools. This landmark agreement, approved by Judge Claudia Wilken, also includes revenue sharing and roster limits. A key aspect is the $2.8 billion in back damages to be paid to athletes over the next decade (2025-2035). Power 5 NCAA conferences (plus Notre Dame) must follow the new rules, while other Division I schools can choose to opt-in

The settlement also addresses potential future issues with revenue sharing, roster sizes, and NIL regulations. It’s expected to reshape the landscape of college athletics and how athletes are compensated.

This week, between a dump of thousands of previously classified documents on the life and assassination of the legendary Martin Luther King Jr., blatant lies in front of Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell and the suggestion of a new recipe for Coca-Cola – the (NSFW descriptive term deleted) administration decided to issue an executive order to “prop up” college sports by limiting collegiate athletic programs’ ability to steer money toward specific sports like football and basketball at the expense of other sports. The order, which came amid lawmakers’ heightened interest in having Washington play a role in regulating sports and student athletes, “cast the current state of college sports in apocalyptic terms,” according to Politico.

“Absent guardrails to stop the madness and ensure a reasonable, balanced use of resources across collegiate athletic programs that preserves their educational and developmental benefits, many college sports will soon cease to exist,” the executive order stated.

The order requires athletic departments with more than $125 million in revenue during the 2024-2025 season to offer more scholarships in “non-revenue sports” this year than they did the prior year. Programs with less revenue are instructed to maintain or avoid disproportionately reducing such scholarships, or eliminate roster spots. (Sort of a DOGE for scholarships).

Instead of fewer regulations, the United States’ government seems to be “reversing fields” and positioning itself for more regulations to police the business of college sports which – with recent and self-inflicted rule changes – has entered into an era of pay for play and other professional sports-like day-to-day/season-to-season financial operations.

The new executive order calls for the prohibition of the “third-party market of pay-for-play inducements,” but allows athletes to get paid “fair market value” for endorsements or other services. That largely duplicates part of the NCAA/House legal settlement which governs most college sports programs.

Playing it out – instead of the old way of slipping some cash in an envelope for a FedEx delivery or the new way of having billionaire alums directly paying players for their commitment (read transfer via the portal) and at least one year of service – now the billionaire alums must – instead – pay the players to endorse their business, or consumer products.

Surely, the House nor the administration consulted with the various Compliance Officers at each school or the principal’s office (Charlie Baker’s joint) in Indianapolis. Clearly, the early outlines of the proposals seem to be impossible to enforce and quite easy for school boosters to circumvent, especially in the worlds of collegiate football and basketball. And, regardless, those freight trains have already left the station and are chugging their crafty ways toward title contention in the 2025 College Football Playoffs or 2026 NCAA national basketball championship(s) … aka … March Madness.

For Congress, the West Wing and the colleges, Madness is the perfect term.

HERE NOW, THE NOTES: Long thought of as a nice game for retirement communities or, maybe, Asian and Jewish grandparents, “Mah-jongg” is making a comeback. That trend is being reported via an in-depth story in this weekend’s edition of The Washington Post. It’s gone so far that one group of young mothers in their 30s – looking for a nighttime activity complete with take-out and cocktails – created a make-shift play group they call “Momjong.” DC has its start-up groups while New York hotels including the Ace and the Standard have hosted mah-jongg nights. While the game was played regularly in China in the 1800s, the resurgence in the USA decades ago weent so far that a group of Jewish-American women who were fans of the game, created the National Mah Jongg League in 1937, developing an American style of the game. How long will it take for some investment group to fund the World Pro Mah Jongg League? The line starts to the left.

CALLING COMMISSIONER GORDON: Sports teams in the Big Apple are increasingly fighting over the nickname “Gotham City,” made famous by the popular Batman comic book, 1960s television series and highly successful motion pictures. Most recently, the J-E-T-S of the National Football League placed a claim by revamping their team locker and the phrase “Gotham City Football” was hung over player nameplates in the home team room. In legal action taken on June 12, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office denied the team’s request to trademark “Gotham City Football” for apparel such as T-shirts, hoodies and caps, according to Sportico. … The dismissal by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office noted that “Gotham City” is geographically descriptive of a physical location that the wider public already knows—in this case, New York City—and physical locations cannot be trademarked. Keep in mind, the Jets represent New York but the team is headquartered in Florham Park, New Jersey, some 38 miles west of the city, and the Jets play their home games 12 miles from NYC in East Rutherford, New Jersey where the club shares the MetLife Stadium facility with the “New York” football Giants. The Jets’ legal team argued that “Gotham City” is not geographically descriptive, but it originated from the iconic DC Comics franchise Batman. However, the USPTO refuted that claim, saying that the “Gotham City” connection to New York City predates the Dark Knight, when writer Washington Irving first coined the nickname of the city in 1807 in a literary magazine. The Jets franchise was founded in 1959 as the New York Titans and became the J-E-T-S in 1963 when they joined the New York Metropolitans (Mets) at the then-brand spanking new Shea Stadium. Sportico noted, “Gotham has become an increasingly crowded territory for sports IP. Sky Blue FC of the National Women’s Soccer League’s rebranded as NJ/NY Gotham FC—nickname: the Bats—in 2021. The club’s governor, Carolyn Tisch Blodgett, is from the family that co-owns the Giants.” And, adding to the confusion, last year, the YES Network and MSG Networks announced a new streaming team-up, Gotham Advanced Media and Entertainment (GAME). Tri-State dwellers can now watch the Knicks and Yankees via the Gotham Sports App on their mobile devices where they can also watch Batman, Robin and Commissioner Jim Gordon fight crime in Gotham City. To resolve the confusion, maybe it’s time to grab an Alfred App, unless someone wants to resurrect the Cape Crusaders, a soccer team that played in the USL Premier Development League, the fourth tier of the American Soccer Pyramid from 1994 to 2008 before the franchise folded.

TIDBITS & NUGGETS: The next time you question the call of a Major League Baseball umpire, you might want to look up his full record. To do so, visit Umpire Scorecards online where the site checks the calls – accurate and not – for every MLB umpire, including balls and strikes. …

THIS JEST IN: Nick Kurtz, a rookie for MLB’s Athletics, hit four home runs on Friday night, an all-time record for major league rookies. Going a perfect 6-for-6 with the four HRs, Kurtz became the first A’s player in franchise history with a four-homer game, the first rookie in MLB history with a four-homer game, and the 20th major league player, overall, to accomplish the feat.

YOU CAN’T MAKE IT UP: Ripped from the pages of Variety, or maybe an episode of Law & Order, here’s this week’s edition of YCMIU:

On July 19th, Rapper GloRilla was arrested on felony drug charges after a burglary occurred at her home near Atlanta, Georgia, according to Atlanta’s WSB-TV and TMZ. She then performed at the WNBA All-Star Game in Indianapolis that night. The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to the Atlanta-based media outlet that authorities were called to a home owned by GloRilla, whose real name is Gloria Hallelujah Woods, at 1:30 a.m. Saturday morning. The rapper then performed at the WNBA All-Star game in Indianapolis that evening, playing a medley of her songs “Let Her Cook,” “Typa” and “TGIF” at the Gainsbridge Fieldhouse. She surrendered to authorities at the Forsyth County Jail on Tuesday and was released shortly afterward, posting a $22,260 bond.

Investigators said three suspects went into the home when Woods was not present and were robbing the residence when an unidentified individual inside the building fired a gun at them. The burglars escaped and investigators do not believe they were injured. During the investigation, officers smelled drugs and found a “significant amount of marijuana” in a bedroom closet. Woods was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance. “The homeowner is a victim of a serious crime, and we are committed to bringing the suspects to justice,” Sheriff Ron Freeman told WSB-TV. “At the same time, we must continue to uphold and enforce the law in all aspects of this case.”

Red Sox Take Dodgers Series

July 27, 2025 by PGA Tour Brunch

BOSTON – (Staff and Wire Service Report) – Boston’s Alex Bregman hammered a go-ahead two-run homer to help the Red Sox defeat the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers 4-3 Sunday. The Red Sox took the three-game series, 2-1.

Bregman’s 13th home run of the year came against Los Angeles starting pitcher Dustin May to conclude a three-run fifth inning.

Michael Conforto had three hits — a solo home run and two doubles — for the Dodgers, who also received two hits from Shohei Ohtani.

The Red Sox prevailed twice in the three-game series. Los Angeles won 5-2 Friday, and Boston earned a 4-2 victory Saturday.

Boston starter Walker Buehler pitched against the Dodgers — his former team — for the first time in his career, and was pulled with two outs in the fifth. Buehler gave up three runs on four hits, struck out four and walked five.

Brennan Bernardino (4-2) earned the win for recording the final out of the fifth inning.

Red Sox closer Aroldis Chapman left the game with one out in the eighth. He threw 11 pitches in the inning and walked two. Jordan Hicks got the final five outs for Boston for his second save.

May (6-7) pitched the first five innings for Los Angeles. He surrendered four runs on five hits and struck out five without a walk.

The Red Sox grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Roman Anthony was hit by a pitch, took third on Jarren Duran’s single and scored on Trevor Story’s sacrifice fly to center field. It was the second time the Red Sox have scored first in their nine games since the All-Star break.

Boston regained the lead by scoring three times in the fifth. It was 3-2 after Roman Anthony hit an RBI triple that drove in Abraham Toro, and Bregman followed with his two-run home run that put Boston in front.

Pogacar Wins Shortened Tour de France

July 27, 2025 by Digital Sports Desk

PARIS – (Staff and Wire Service Report) – Tadej Pogacar of Slovenia claimed his second straight and fourth career Tour de France championship on Sunday in rain-soaked Paris.

Pogacar, who also won in 2020 and 2021, became the sixth man to win the world’s most prestigious cycling competition at least four times.

Embed from Getty Images

The 26-year-old joined France’s Jacques Anquetil (five) and Bernard Hinault (five), Belgium’s Eddy Merckx (five), Spain’s Miguel Indurain (five) and Britain’s Chris Froome (four).

Pogacar finished four minutes and 24 seconds ahead of rival Jonas Vingegaard of Denmark, the race winner in 2022 and 2023. Germany’s Florian Lipowitz was third, 11 minutes behind.

Belgium’s Wout Van Aert was the first across the Stage 21 finish line in the French capital, collecting his 10th career stage win in the Tour de France.

Due to hazardous conditions and the threat of crashes on the slippery streets, race organizers announced about 50 kilometers into Sunday’s 132.3-kilometer trek from Nantua that all times would be frozen with 50 kilometers to go.

The change all but guaranteed victory for Pogacar, although he still had to finish the race to be declared the winner.

Red Sox, Crochet Prevail vs LA

July 26, 2025 by Digital Sports Desk

BOSTON – (Staff and Wire Service Report) – Boston’s Garrett Crochet allowed two solo home runs in the top of the first, but then pitched five shutout innings to help the Boston Red Sox defeat the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers 4-2 Saturday night.

Crochet (12-4) limited the Dodgers to two runs on eight hits in six innings. He struck out 10 and walked two.

It was the fifth time this season Crochet has recorded 10 or more strikeouts and allowed no more than two earned runs in at least six innings.

Shohei Ohtani and Teoscar Hernandez each homered against Crochet. Ohtani opened the game by hitting his 38th home run of the season. Two batters later Hernandez hit his 16th home run, which was his second in as many games.

Alex Bregman and Jarren Duran each collected three hits for the Red Sox, who also received two hits from Roman Anthony. Duran had two triples and a double.

Boston overcame a 2-0 deficit by scoring three runs in the second. The key hit in the inning was Duran’s two-run triple.

Hyeseong Kim collected two of the Dodgers’ nine hits.

Mookie Betts was not in the Dodgers starting lineup, but did pinch hit with two outs and a runner on first in the ninth. He struck out looking against Aroldis Chapman for the game’s final out. Chapman earned his 18th save.

Betts did not play in Los Angeles’ 5-2 victory on Friday night because he was in Tennessee taking care of a personal matter.

Los Angeles starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw exited the mound with two outs in the fifth. He gave up four runs on six hits, walked two and struck out two.

The Dodgers grabbed a 2-0 lead on the first-inning home runs from Ohtani and Hernandez, but Boston took the lead by scoring three runs in the second. After Duran tied the game with his two-run triple, Abraham Toro drove in Duran on a sacrifice fly to center field.

Boston added to its lead in the fifth. Bregman reached on a two-out single and scored on Anthony’s double to make it 4-2.

Teoscar Winning Performance

July 26, 2025 by Digital Sports Desk

BOSTON – (Staff and Wire Service Report) -LA’s Teoscar Hernandez hit a two-run home run to help the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Boston Red Sox 5-2 Friday in the opener of a three-game series.

After Freddie Freeman singled to open the eighth inning, Hernandez homered against Boston reliever Jorge Alcala to extend the Dodgers’ lead to 5-2. It was his 15th home run of the season. Hernandez drove in three of Los Angeles’ five runs.

Freeman, Will Smith and Andy Pages each collected two hits in the victory, but Shohei Ohtani failed to homer for the sixth straight game. Ohtani went 1-for-4 with two strikeouts.

Emmet Sheehan (2-1) pitched the first five innings for Los Angeles. He surrendered two runs on three hits, struck out five and walked two. The Dodgers’ bullpen provided four scoreless innings, including a scoreless ninth from Ben Casparius.

The Red Sox had runners on first and second with two outs in the ninth, but Casparius retired Rob Refsnyder on a grounder to second to end the game. It was his first major league save.

Boston starting pitcher Brayan Bello (6-5) was pulled with one out in the sixth. He gave up three runs on six hits, struck out five and walked two.

The Red Sox were limited to five hits: doubles by Connor Wong, Alex Bregman and Trevor Story, and singles by Jarren Duran and Masataka Yoshida.

The Dodgers grabbed a 3-0 lead by scoring a run in the second and two in the third. Pages made it 1-0 when he scored from third on Tommy Edman’s infield single. It was 2-0 after Ohtani scored when Hernandez drew a bases-loaded walk, and Smith scored on a Pages sacrifice fly to give Los Angeles a 3-0 advantage.

The Red Sox sliced their deficit to 3-2 by scoring twice in the bottom of the third. Wong doubled and scored on a Duran single, and then Bregman drove in Duran with a double.

The teams meet again this evening and Sunday afternoon for the three-game set before the Dodgers travel to Cincinnati and the Red Sox hit the road again for a trip to the Twin Cities.

Olesen Leads at 3M Open

July 25, 2025 by PGA Tour Brunch

BLAINE – Denmark’s Thorbjorn Olesen overcame a double bogey and took over the lead at the 3M Open by posting a 5-under-par 66 Friday at TPC Twin Cities in Minnesota.

Embed from Getty Images

Olesen entered the weekend at 14-under 128, one shot above Jake Knapp (65 Friday) and two ahead of Pierceson Coody (65) and Sam Stevens (68).

Olesen was 1 over par six holes into his round after hitting his tee shot out of bounds at the par-4 15th and hitting a poor shot off his drop. He proceeded to birdie the next two holes to erase that blemish, then add four birdies on the front nine.

“There was two great shots there,” Olesen said. “On (No. 16), I hit it to I think 3 or 4 feet, and also on 17 I hit it really close. Yeah, I mean, my iron play has been great. I didn’t — I felt pretty comfortable even though I made a double still, so that’s a good thing.”

Olesen, 35, is a veteran with eight wins on the DP World Tour but none in the United States. He started the week No. 129 in the FedEx Cup standings but said he’s simply taking every week as it comes.

“Every week is an opportunity to try and bounce back and do something special,” Olesen said.

Knapp is bogey-free through 36 holes as he seeks his second PGA Tour win. He opened his round with three straight birdies at Nos. 10-12.

“Feel like I’m kind of doing everything pretty good for the most part,” Knapp said. “I haven’t made too many putts, but yeah, I feel like it’s been, you know, kind of mistake-free for the most part. I haven’t really had to scramble too much.”

Tied for fifth at 11 under were Japan’s Takumi Kanaya (bogey-free 64), German Matti Schmid (68) and Chris Kirk (67).

A collection of notable names at 10 under included Wyndham Clark (65), Chris Gotterup (69), Akshay Bhatia (66) and Joel Dahmen (65). Alex Noren of Sweden joined them there by posting the round of the day, a 9-under 62 with an eagle-birdie-birdie-bogey finish.

“Today I understand why I love golf so much,” Noren quipped. “It’s a fantastic sport because it is tough and then when you get it right, it’s lovely.”

Canadian Adam Svensson broke the course record Thursday with an 11-under 60 but turned the wrong way Friday, posting a 4-over 75 to drop back to 7 under.

Max Homa (8 under following a 68), Rickie Fowler (7 under; 70) and Sam Burns (7 under; 64) made the cut, which landed at 5 under par as Friday’s round finished.

Those who missed the weekend included China’s Haotong Li (4 under), who was in the final Sunday pairing with Scottie Scheffler at last week’s Open Championship; Sahith Theegala (2 under); and Tony Finau (4 over), a former 3M Open champion who made back-to-back double bogeys en route to a 77 Friday.

Red Sox: “Big Series” vs LA Dodgers

July 25, 2025 by Digital Sports Desk

BOSTON – (Wire Service Report) – The Los Angeles Dodgers may be without a key piece of their lineup Friday when they begin a nine-game road trip by opening a three-game series against the Boston Red Sox.

Embed from Getty Images

Following Wednesday’s 4-3 victory over Minnesota, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said shortstop Mookie Betts could miss Friday’s game while he takes care of a personal matter.

“There might be some things going on that he might not be around, that he’s got to deal with personally,” Roberts said. “Everything is OK with him, but yeah, we’ll see.”

Betts spent the first six seasons of his career in Boston and was the American League MVP in 2018, when he led the Red Sox to a World Series victory over the Dodgers. Betts was traded to the Dodgers in 2020 for Alex Verdugo, Jeter Downs and Connor Wong. He’s been an All-Star and earned MVP votes in four of his first five years with Los Angeles.

Betts started a ninth-inning rally in Wednesday’s win with a two-out infield single. After Shohei Ohtani was intentionally walked and Esteury Ruiz worked a walk to load the bases, Freddie Freeman hit a game-ending two-run single.

The Dodgers are 2-4 since the All-Star break after going 2-7 before it.

“We needed that one,” said Freeman, who was hitting .210 in July before collecting two hits Wednesday. “That was a huge win for us. Huge series win.”

Boston will likely be short-handed for the weekend series as well, since third baseman Marcelo Mayer left Wednesday’s 9-8 victory over Philadelphia in the fifth inning and was wearing a brace on his right wrist following the game. Mayer said he expects to have an MRI soon.

“I just felt a little tight grab in my wrist when I took a swing in my second at-bat,” Mayer said. “I knew I really couldn’t do anything after that, so I just called it (a day).”

Boston catcher Carlos Narvaez hit a two-run homer in the 11th inning of Wednesday’s win after being called for catcher’s interference against the Phillies on Monday and Tuesday. The Phillies prevailed 3-2 Monday when the interference call came with no outs and the bases loaded in the 10th inning.

“You gotta move forward,” Narvaez said. “You gotta stay on the attack mode.”

Like the Dodgers, the Red Sox are 2-4 since the All-Star break.

Friday’s pitching matchup features a pair of right-handers in Boston’s Brayan Bello (6-4, 3.23 ERA) and Los Angeles’ Emmet Sheehan (1-1. 4.41 ERA).

Bello allowed three runs on five hits in six innings during his only career appearance against the Dodgers last season. Sheehan, who pitched at nearby Boston College, has never faced the Red Sox.

Ohtani enters Friday’s matchup with a home run in each of his last five games. The MLB record for consecutive games with a home run is eight, held by Dale Long (1956), Don Mattingly (1987) and Ken Griffey Jr. (1993).

“I do know that if he has the same approach that he’s had, that Green Monster is very short, so any fly ball that he hits will be a homer,” Roberts said of Ohtani, who has a pair of long home runs toward left field this week. “So he’s just got to continue to have that same approach when we go to Boston, and then we’ll see what happens.”
