Indy’s beleaguered defense has already swapped its lead “blue-dot” communicator on defense, from S Cam Bynum to LB Akeem Davis-Gaither. The Colts are overturning every stone to try to figure out how the opener against the Ravens went so poorly. A run defense whipped by Derrick Henry and Lamar Jackson (202 yards, four TDs) is praying that Chiefs RB Kenneth Walker III won’t have much left for an encore in KC. Walker had 173 rushing yards and 18 receiving yards on three catches to power the Chiefs to a Monday night victory over the Broncos. Colts RB Jonathan Taylor did his part in the opener, with the exception of a rare fumble. He had 98 yards and two TDs. But QB Daniel Jones couldn’t get the passing game to fire. WR Alec Pierce had four receptions but Indianapolis amassed only 251 total yards. Pierce (heel) has been bothered by the same injury that limited him in the offseason, but he’s a go for Sunday night after being removed from the injury report.
