FORT WORTH – World No. 1 and FedEx Cup leader Scottie Scheffler posted a second consecutive bogey-free round, carding a 5- under (65) Friday to retain a share of the lead; he is the only player in the field without a bogey.

Making his 10th start and playing his 26th round at the Charles Schwab Challenge, Scott Stallings carded a bogeyfree 6-under 64, his lowest score at the event and tied Danny Lee for the low round of the day.

For a third consecutive Charles Schwab Challenge, an 18-hole leader/co-leader also leads/co-leads after 36 holes (Beau Hossler, Scottie Scheffler/2022; Jordan Spieth/2021; and Harold Varner III/2020)

Since 1990, the second-round leader/co-leader has won the Charles Schwab Challenge 11 times.

Co-leaders are 1-2-3 in Strokes Gained: Approach the Green this week (Hossler/1st; Stallings/2nd; Scheffler/3rd)

DALLAS/FORT WORTH – Dallas native and University of Texas alum Scottie Scheffler was the hottest golfer in the Rio Grande as he won his first four PGA Tour titles in a span of six starts but that came to a grinding halt when he missed the cut at the PGA Championship last week. It marked his second missed cut of the season and first of the calendar year. He will be making his third start in the Charles Schwab Challenge (MC/2021, T-55/2020).

Reigning PGA Tour Rookie of the Year Will Zalatoris enters the week after earning his fifth Top-10 in his eighth major championship start. The PGA Championship playoff marked the Dallas native’s second playoff appearance of the season (2022 Farmers Insurance Open).

In bid to become the first major championship winner from Chile, third-round PGA Championship leader Mito Pereira finished T-3 in his second career major start. The PGA rookie will be making his Charles Schwab Challenge debut in his 29th career start.

A year ago, Jason Kokrak defeated Jordan Spieth by two strokes to earn Kokrak’s second career PGA Tour victory at the Charles Schwab Challenge. Kokrak was the first player since Francesco Molinari (2017-18) to win their first two TOUR titles in the same season at age 35 or older. Kokrak will attempt to become only the second player to successfully defend their title in Fort Worth, Ben Hogan did it on two occasions (1946-1947, 1952-1953).

Lee, AT&T Byron Nelson. The last time there were fewer than 10 first time winners in a season was 2012 when there were nine. The fewest in any season was only four (1992).

Michael Visacki, who received widespread attention after his Monday qualifying for the Valspar Championship, is in the field on a sponsor exemption this week. Visacki missed the cut at the Valspar Championship after carding scores of 74-71 (+3).
